Joana Vasconcelos - Textures of Life

A three-metre high gleaming stiletto made of saucepans and lids, a chandelier fashioned from thousands of OB sanitary tampons, and a helicopter covered with brightly coloured ostrich feathers. With the exhibition Textures of Life, ARoS will be presenting 17 stunning installations by Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos, of which the largest, Valkyrie Rán, has been created especially for the museum. Ai Weiwei, Yi Yi, 2015


On the night between the 26th and 27th of January 2016, Ai Weiwei announced on Instagram and Twitter his wish to pull his installation Yu Yi, 2015 from ARoS’ current exhibition A New Dynasty – Created in China in protest at Denmark’s policies on asylum seekers. Since then museum director Erlend G. Høyersten and Ai Weiwei have been trying to reach a solution. The outcome of their dialogue is that Yu Yi will be removed from the exhibition. More

James Turrell and The Next Level


With two new works of art by the American artist James Turrell and a donation from the New Carlsberg Foundation of DKK 20 m, ARoS is ready to present the new design for the extension with the working title The Next Level. More Press photos
