More than 1.5 million experienced aros in 2017
The visitor numbers for 2017 are now available and they attest to an extraordinary year for ARoS
A total of 980,909 people visited the museum while the ARoS Triennial The Garden – End of Times, Beginning of Times attracted approximately 563,500 visitors to the city space as well as to the coastal area south of Aarhus. This means that more than one-and-a-half million people had an ARoS-related cultural experience during 2017.
- Recent years have seen a steady rise in visitor numbers. This trend has continued despite a year with many cultural events on offer in the city. We’re pleased that so many people have had a chance to experience ARoS in 2017 and we look forward to welcoming visitors in 2018, says Erlend G. Høyersten, museum director, ARoS.
More than 23 percent of the visitors came from abroad in 2017. The majority of these came during the summer period where foreign visitors accounted for about forty-two percent of the total numbers for June-September. Moreover, ARoS received extensive media coverage in 2017, both home and abroad, with an advertising value equivalent of more than DKK 208,000,000 evenly distributed between domestic and foreign media.
- We’re proud of the media attention lavished on ARoS by foreign media and on The Garden in particular, says Erlend G. Høyersten.
